Cargill to Build $90M Biodiesel Plant in Kansas

Cargill announced it is investing $90 million to construct a biodiesel plant in Wichita, Kansas.

Work is scheduled to begin in December 2017 on the 42,000 square-foot facility which will have 35 full-time employees and the capacity to produce 60 million gallons of biodiesel per year.

Once constructed, the plant, which will be located adjacent to Cargill’s oilseed processing plant, will join Cargill’s existing Midwest biodiesel operations located in Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Kansas City, Missouri, and will replace an existing oil refinery managed by Cargill’s Global Edible Oil business. The company states that it remains committed to its food business, and plans to transfer existing edible oils production to alternate Cargill locations.

The facility, which is set to open in January of 2019, will make the twelfth location for Cargill in the state of Kansas.
